Discussing GamificationSaturday's special session of Free Internet Marketing Consulting features two friends. Richard Dansky is a game designer, writer and all around brilliant guy. Richard just happens to be married to my friend Melinda Thielbar, my favorite and equally brilliant "quant".
I would bet a gamification installation two years ago was half as expensive as NOW. We are in the gamification tornado. I blame Google (something I do as a default lol). Google's Panda and Penguin algorithm changes changed our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) game board.
Why Is Gamification So Important
Google's move to prize relevance and engagement means gamification is HOTTER than HOT because engagement is where gamification lives. I wrote a white paper on gamification a year ago because of this Google Trends chart:
Gamification And Cure Cancer StarterGamification is Cure Cancer Starter MUST, Cure Cancer Starter is the crowdfunding platform we are developing for cancer centers, a "KickStarter for Cancer Research". Curing cancer is a TOUGH, LONG journey. Gamifying Cure Cancer Starter creates scale and makes cancer fun.
I have cancer, Leukemia, and there is nothing "fun" about it. Cure Cancer Starter needs to be a fun game, a game so engaging millions will play. Am I crazy? Is any attempt to make curing cancer fun doomed?
I may be crazy, but the only way we cure cancer is because we BELIEVE we can. I believe we can and I know we can create a platform that is so engaging and fun you will want to create a profile and tell five friends.
I'm betting my life savings and every chit I can call in with FOMs (Friends of Martin). I'm betting together we will create a very cool Cure Cancer Starter. I'm all in. This is THE project of my life.
Hope you will join me, LIKE Cure Cancer Starter on Facebook and stop by Saladelia on Saturday if you are interested in a cool conversation on Games, Gamification and how Tech Cures Cancer.
NOTE: Ryan Shelley (@Barnapkins) will be creating a video of our talk.
