Gamifying Pinterest
A few months ago I joined Pinterest and I love it. The tool is magical and the community amazing. Getting to know people by how they pin is a window into how men, women and businesses think.
Each new person who followed ScentTrail on Pinterest brought astounding new ways to view things. I could follow the trail of breadcrumbs left by some magical curator four or even five generations removed. Very cool, but very time consuming.
The reward of finding new power Pinners was proving to be worth a lot, so I put my Internet marketing cap on to begin a thought experiment. How could I gamify Pinterest?
Hemingway's 6 Word Story and 5 PinsThe problem was how create a game for something that was already a game. How create a game within Pinterest's game? I used Hemingway's six word novel as a model. Hemingway bet his writer companions he could tell a complete story in six words. His 6 word story:
Baby shoes. Barely worn. For Sale.
I modified Hemingway's idea to see who can tell cool complete stories in 5 pins or less. You can see my example of telling a story in 5 pins on the King of Pinterest Contest. I used 5 pins to illustrate the idea Art Is Business Is Art and connect Duchamp to Warhol and Damien Hirst. I pinned to linked articles and several images to make all the connections.
Can you tell a cool complete story in 5 pins or less?
Entering Is Easy1. Follow ScentTrail on Pinterest.
2. I add you to either the King, Queen or Business board (forgive me if I get King or Queen wrong as some names are hard to tell, mistakes are easy to fix :). If I make a mistake just tweet to @ScentTrail and I will fix.
3. Before 2.13.13 Pin 5 Pins that tell a story.
4. We will select 10 Pinners from each group to compete for the title.
