Internet Marketing Music Lessons From Moon AudioHaving Friday lunch on my "Vacation Day" or as Atlantic BT prefers to think of it enjoying some PTO (Paid Time Off) at a very busy Saladelia in Durham. Van Morrison is singing about a brown eyed girl in that perfect Irish lilt inside the middle of my brain, or it feels that way thanks to my Shure 425s.
I shared a sad story about the passing of my Etymotic isolation earphones, like headphones but much smaller, with Drew Baird, Moon Audio's President, in passing. Nothing audio passes Drew or his helpful and intelligent wife Nichole very far or for very long. "What kind of music do you listen to?" Was the first of many questions Drew asked. He went into "Audio Genius" mode.
I could almost see the matrix Drew was drawing. He asked for inputs such as budget, music type and what I liked about my Etymotics. We talked for a couple of minutes, Drew looked up as the registers in his brain worked. "I think you would like the Shure series," He said with a gift for understatement.

Internet Marketing Lessons from Drew and NicholeI've learned important Internet marketing lessons from Drew and Nichole including:
- Do what you love and the money follows.
- Create unique products, unique GREAT products.
- Be SOCIAL to win.
- Share, share and share some more.
- Know your stuff, only room for leaders.
To say Drew and Nichole love music is VAST understatement. Drew is the genius inventor in the basement and Nichole is his talented partner. The sum of their parts is greater because they have a harmony, a finish each other's sentences partnership.
Drew started Moon Audio with a simple question. How can I build a cable that will let the music come through, cables that when matched with the right equipment will help not hinder the sound. Sound, in Drew's mind, means different things to different people.
The Beethoven and Brahms audiophile's music is different than the Miles Davis and John Coltrane jazz addict who is different than the indie rock fan. Drew knew no matter what kind of music you listen to there is a common desire - it needs to sound amazing, it needs to transport us to a better place.
Tall order for the non-genius, but not for Drew. I don't mean to imply Drew waved some magic wand. Nope, like most really smart people he combines love of craft with hard work. Perspiration plus inspiration works better than either alone. Drew LOVES tinkering, and that love of testing, listening and testing some more is how his Dragons were born.
Drew's Black, Blue and Silver dragons add new dimension to the sound. Drew explained the engineering and material choices behind each cable, well over my head (lol). What wasn't over my head was the clear love Drew has for making the music sound better. He wants it to feel like Van Morrison is inside your head singing about a cool night's breeze (Van Morrison IS and it DOES :).
